Description

The human resource director is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resources functions at Workshops, Inc.

Key Area of Responsibility #1: Manage Professional Development Process for all Employees and Provide general employability training to persons served

  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  • Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the agency.
  • Develops and manages professional development calendar and curriculum for production workers, aimed at helping each work toward their vocational potential
  • Assists executive director in the development, implementation and evaluation of a performance-based culture and compensation system.
  • Assists executive director in the annual preparation and administration of agency wage and salary program.
  • Teaches job readiness classes aimed at helping persons served learn the soft skills of employment

Key Area of Responsibility #2:  Develop and maintain a human resource system that meets agency personnel information needs

  • Maintain personnel files in accordance with best practices.
  • Coordinate or conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation; and keep record of same identifying any trends of areas for improvement.
  • Continually seek opportunities to enhance or improve the human resource system at Workshops, Inc.
  • Manage benefits for all personnel

Key Area of Responsibility #3: Manage the Recruitment and Onboarding process for new employees

  • Annually review the employee orientation process to ensure it meets agency needs and legal requirements.
  • Ensure that each new employee completes the full orientation process and that all materials needed for employee files are collected and maintained according to policy and legal requirements.
  • Ensure that reasonable accommodations are made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
  • Track how new employees have found out about Workshops, Inc. so that we can constantly add to our recruitment sources

Key Area of Responsibility #4: Ensure that Workshops, Inc. legally complies with employment laws and stays abreast of industry trends

  • Maintains responsibility for agency compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the Executive Director, on personnel matters
  • Maintain an active membership with the local chapter of SHRM

Key Area of Responsibility #5: Maintain agency’s policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.

  • Annually review and makes recommendations to executive director for improvement of the agency’s policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
  • Communicates changes in agency personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed.

Key Area of Responsibility #6: Manage the administrative piece of the agency’s Health & Safety Program

  • Ensure that departmental reports are submitted and recorded as needed
  • Lead quarterly Safety Committee meetings
  • Ensure the safety protocols are followed to provide the safest workplace possible

Key Area of Responsibility #7: Effectively Serve as Member of the Management Team and as a leader among staff

  • Work with other members of the Management Team to determine the best course of action or decisions for the organization
  • Practice healthy communication with other team members, so that Workshops, Inc.’s programs, production and administration functions work in synchronicity with one another
  • Make recommendations to the Executive Director and other senior staff regarding program and policy issues or needed changes
  • Participate on committees and special projects and seek additional responsibilities as time allows
  • Assume other duties as requested in accordance with ability to handle increased responsibilities, program changes and changing circumstances, and consumer needs


Requirements
