Description

Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a private, Washington, DC-based, non-profit grantee of the United States Agency for Global Media that provides accurate and timely news and information to Asian countries whose governments prohibit access to a free press. Delivered in nine Asian languages in addition to English, our journalism extends beyond radio to include web, video, mobile and e-books.

RFA is currently seeking an experienced Human Resources leader to serve as its Senior Director of Human Resources and guide and manage RFA’s Human Resources services, policies, and programs. 

 The major areas of responsibilities of this role include:

  •  Employment and compliance to regulatory matters;
  • Employee recruitment;
  • Employee orientation, development, and training;
  • Performance management and improvement systems;
  • Compensation and benefits administration;
  • Employee relations, safety, welfare, wellness, and health;
  • HRIS;
  • Organization development.

The Senior Director will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, empowerment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. 

Reporting to the COO, the Senior Director will coordinate implementation of services, policies, and programs through Human Resources staff; serve on RFA's senior management team; and assist and advise RFA’s managers about human resources issues.



Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • Minimum ten years of progressive leadership experience in HR positions.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR credential required; GPHR preferred.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organizational development, employee relations, safety, and training and development.
  • Excellent and demonstrable interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated success as a participant on a senior leadership team that provides company leadership and direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the organization’s Board of Directors.
  • General knowledge of domestic employment laws and practices
  • Working knowledge of foreign employment laws and practices, particularly in East and Southeast Asia.
  • Experience in administration of benefits and compensation programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Active affiliation with appropriate HR networks and organizations.
  • Possesses ongoing affiliations with leaders in successful non-profits and organizations that practice effective HR Management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in English required, proficiency in Mandarin Chinese desired but not required.
